Canterbury

Canterbury was eventful... the day started well, with a Macs breakfast (my fav indulgence) and the boys were on time and in the Q when we met. Train was to leave at 9.07am, we decided to go onto the platform early to try to get a nice seat on the train. Lesson learnt from the previous week trip to Stratford. the train cam and we all hopped on... thinking the train was there early and will leave at 9.07am.... before we knew it... the train started moving and we were all in shock!.... it was the wrong train!!! we were headed for Brighton!


we got off the next station 20 mins away, went back to London Bridge, then took the next train out, but we had to change train at Tonbridge, but at Tonbridge, the sign showed that the train will be split into 2 along the way... we freaked out. when the train came, we ran into the 2nd carriage, tried to open the door between the carriages, we could not, cindy and titus ran down. and before we knew it .. the doors closed. Cindy narrowly made it in, but titus was stuck outside. and we could not open the door from inside to let him in.... titus ran to the back carriages. tried a few doors and only finally one opened. PHEW!!


when we were all on the train, the train driver announced over PA system, 'The antics of some passengers caused us 1000 pounds, that is the reason why train tickets are getting more expensive.'

so we got to Canterbury in 1 piece. went to the canterbury cathedral, which was quite pretty and the St Augustine Abbey. Both National Heritage sites. The Abbey reminded me of Stonehenge, but at least i got to walk around the ruins, which was great.


went to some silly Canterbury Tales walk which was really bad... i could almost fall asleep while walking during the tour. Then we were cheated by the nice picture of the Roman Musuem in the pamplet. argh... lousy..


it was a good trip. weather was chilly with cold winds, but it was good nonetheless.
