I went for an interview today, with this company which provides data like R. This firm is really young, only started in 2001, but already a market leader in the data it is providing.
i was supposed to meet with 3 people today. The HR, the client relationship manager and the Managing Director. Imagine my shock when i was told that I had to meet the MD on the 1st interview. Anyway, i met with the manager first and i thought i did really badly when he asked me questions in an area which i was not really that familiar with. anyhow, he thought i had some relevant experiences so i was brought to see the MD.
It was only later that i was told that if the manager did not liked me, he would have shown me the door and would not have even bothered the MD. phew! God's favour is on me!
The MD was really nice! He was very patient with me and explained to me what the company did and we shared our views on R and generally had a good chat. He then asked me how much i was being paid in singapore. which is obviously peanuts after you convert to pounds. He even took out his calculator to do his math and exclaimed i was affordable!!! of coz i am!. i think the cleaners here get more than me!
so then, he looked at me and asked if i had time as he wanted to speak to the HR. So, he left me at the reception and then out came a guy to meet me! Apparently the MD had arranged for me to meet up with the HR and the team leader and then another manager of the other team. Favor from God.
so in all, i met with 5 person instead of 3. The entire process took 3 hours and i had to repeat my long work history 5 times. no joke! but i have to say that i have much to contribute to this company and I can actually say that though this is data business and is similar to what i did before, the idea of my being useful to contribute my ideas and experiences excite me tremendously.
anyway, though the entire interview went well, the direct manager which i could potential work for is on holiday and so i cannot tell for sure if i will be getting the job. since i will be working with her, feels like she might be a deal breaker! anyway, i am not one who counts her chickens before they are hatched. i am not exactly worried. actually not that bothered! and you wanna know why?
last week, i was thinking of my finances and my job search and my impending holiday to spain. i did a mental calculation and decided i would have to take up a waitressing job if i dun have a job by the time i get back from spain. as i was thinking and feeling a little unsure about my days in london, i commited all my fears to God.
i told myself to commit all my fears to God and pray and know that He is in-charge whenever any thoughts of my finances and job search worry come to mind. and strangely, after i commited that to God, on my way to Wimbledon on Friday, i was called up for an interview that day! God works in miraculous ways huh?
And did you know the HR was sooo nice to attach all I ever needed to know about the company in the email confirmation. i did not have to even go to the website to do my research! favour from God again!
Even if i do not get this job, i am assured that God will take care of me. and my bloody nose bleed just before i left my house this morning for the interview. hehehe....
