Sjoukje, if I have told some of you, is my Tall dutch friend whom i got to know during my USA summer camp days. We kept in contact since and I have visited her once in Estonia when she was doing her exchange and last year when I was in Holland.
Sjoukje decided to pack her bags in the Hague after the govt department did not employ her full time! such stooopid arses. anyway, good on the hindsight as she just took off to Spain. She is now based in Madrid. So she took spanish classes when she first got there and did some part time work and now she is officially a tour guide! how cool right?
We have arranged for her and Jelena, our Estonian friend to come to london to visit mid August. Sjoukje has already her tickets, and we are persuading Leena now!
Anyhow, Sjoukje was supposed to lead a group of 23 people from London to Paris for a few days, so she was flew in from Madrid and i met up for an indian dinner and drinks with her!
It was really nice to meet her again! we talked non-spot and she once again said that of all the Asians she had ever come across, i am the most unAsian! but i did tell her never to use me as a benchmark for a normal Asian. haha.. she agreed.... the months and years since the 1st time we got to know each other in 2002, USA days just melts away whenever we meet. it feels like we never really left each other, which is really nice!
we talked about my spain trip next wk and she is trying to arrange to join me in the beaches of spain as well! hehe.. i cannot wait!
