We arrived in Florence in the afternoon and found our way to the B&B which we have booked to realised that I had booked for May instead of March!!! argh. imagine the nightmare for the 2 of us! it was my fault entirely. i blame no one. but the owner of the B&B was really nice and helped us looked for alternative lodging. he even said he would have offered his loft to us for the night, but he had friends over. He even suggested if i was alone, he would have offered his half of his bed for free. BIG FLIRT! ha. anyway, we found a hostel for a night and it was indeed another challenge. the hostel was a 10 min walk into the jungle and it was all dark. thankfully there were 2 other ladies from Denmark who walked with us. I would not have been so confident without them with me. We got there safely and then quickly went to bed. That's me the next morning along the path.

woke up really early the next day and had breakfast with Bananas!

We then went to look for our next B&B to leave our bags before going to see the procession 'Explosion of the Cart' This is a tradition on Easter Sunday. They literally have fireworks shooting out from the cart, though i thought it would have been much nicer if it was dark. anyhow, the more burnt the cart, the better the year it would be for florence, hence there was obviously a huge amount of fireworks attached to the cart. =)
Immediately after the procession it started to pour, so jezz and i, like all like-minded tourist decided to seek refuge in the Uffizi Museum. the queue was 3 hrs and 15 mins. standing up... slowly inching our way.. jezz and i took turns to stand in line. let's just say, i was not in the best of moods to appreciate any art after that. my legs almost fell apart. but i guess i was rewarded when i came face to face with Borticelli's Venus and Spring paintings. The 2 paintings were really very pretty.

After the long queue and the walk around the museum, jezz and i were spent. hence we went for dinner before heading back to bed.

But despite all the rain, i just had to stop for a gelato. how can i not have a gelato when i am in italy right?

Our last day in florence started early as we had much to cover, especially after all the hoo haa about lodging and all the rain which made sigh-seeing a nightmare. so we went straight to the Duomo and Baptistry to do our tourist must-see, must-do and let's just say i was still not impressed. ha. but i was really impressed by this tea light candle holder. so pretty!

After seeing the Duomo, we went to the Museo de Academia where David is found. I have to say i am very very impressed by the sculpture of David. it is massive and just pretty magnificent. so how i did not imagine David to look like this when i read about him in the bible. This statue was suppose to depict David after he killed the goliath when he was a child. The David Statue looks more manly and mature. oh well. its Michelangelo's idea of David anyway. There are 2 copies of David in Florence and I am standing next to a fake outside the Uffizi. =)

Last stop was a the Boboli gardens. jezz was pretty insistent that we visited the gardens. i can only imagine the garden in the summer. but as it is still early days, the garden only had botak trees. =) but we were really glad we went as we had a very nice view of tuscany. =)
While we were in Italy, london was snowing and jezz was really upset as she really wanted to see snow. nonetheless, thank God, just as we were climbing the stairs up to the plane, snow fell on us. i was really happy for Jezz to see snow. i was happy as well. i was a little disppointed that i missed the snowing in london as london only snow a few days in a year.
so we had a bad flight into pisa, we had an equally bad flight out as well. the bad weather coupled with the need for the pilot to soar into the sky made really bad turbulence. jezz and i had to hold hands for a while and i was praying like mad to hope that i make it to the ground in 1 piece.
overall i had a really nice time in Italy and i definitely will go back again. pasta anyone?
