Athens...

I landed in Athens around evening and was promptly picked up at the airport. I was sent to Ledra Marriott hotel and it was my mami waiting at the lobby for me!!!!




yeah! Reunion of mami and me!


so we spent the evening catching up and I have to admit the 8 days magazine she brought for me ... i really miss the singapore humour! it was hilarious. i read it from cover to cover!

fyi, by the time i arrive, auntie who arrived in the morning had already conquered a shopping street and started her shopping already!




so we started athens properly with a guided tour that covered most places of interest and our last stop was obviously at the Acropolis.







Athens is nice, but for a big city, i was fairly disappointed. not sure what i was expecting, but i was not exactly impressed. perhaps i have been seeing old buildings in london everyday now that all the ancient columns do not amuse anymore. maybe..



day 2 started with a walk to the national archaelogical museum. we slowly took our walk and had coffee and only entered the museum at 1pm. i conclude that i am more of an art gallery person than a history museum person after visitng this museum. =) it was broken pots, stolen gold and artefacts from tombs.... on display. i am sure many people may find it interesting.. maybe not me.


But thank God, the weather was fantastic. it was raining a couple of days before. Also, i love the many stray dogs roaming around. The strays were HUGE! and all beefy looking. and amazingly, all of them were so tame. you can scratch and pat them and they love it, they were even allow you to touch close to their face/ nose. I thank the greek people for being so nice to them and not abusing them.
