Budapest, Hungary reunion

Mate is my old time friend from Star Lake Camp days. we met in 2002 in US and then another time in 2005 when we went on a holiday to estonia, sweden and finland with Sjoukje and Leena... how time flies.
Mate is the guy in yellow. i departed from Vienna at 6.25am by train to reach Budapest by 9-ish.... to attend Mate's church service at 10.30am. not kidding, the road to church is never easy. hehe. it was on top of a hill. hehe. oh well, i got there eventually ! that's all that matters. worship was pretty good. i can sing all the songs. hehe.. anyway, i had mate bring me for a hungarian meal. and it was goulash in a place called 'For Sale' hehe near my hostel. Next to me is Andres and next to Mate is Avi, Mate's sweet little sister! she loves shopping and we went hunting for a pair of zara shoes. hehe. but it was really fun shopping with Avi. After shopping, we all met at a crepe (still debating if it should be called crap or cray-ped). had a sweet Nutella one and a fried (eyes-wide) one. hehe. it was nice hanging out with the 3 of them. i really enjoyed their company. we got on really well.

this is just outside the Houses of Parliarment. the black balls show the spots where shots hit during hte 1956 riot.

this is the court yard of my hostel. i stayed in a hostel called the Loft. it has really nice atmosphere. its really like a house. people just hang around and seriously, even if i walk out with my bags without paying, they wun have even noticed! the hostel is actually an attic of the building and its really nice. cozy and student feel to it. i prob was 1 of the 2 girls in the room. not that it bothered me, the guys went out late at night and i fell asleep early... but location was good though, in the middle of town!

since i did not have much time in budapest, day 1 was spent shopping mostly ! hehe... and its quite cheap yah. and they have most shops like Zara and mango and Avi's fav New Yorker. hehe. So i started Day 2 with a Hop On/Off bus tour. have to admit i was really tired and fell asleep at the beginning of the tour. hehe. this is the stop i got off, its the Fisherman's Bastion. its quite nice. i like it.... ended the tour and visted Stephson's Basilica and stopped for a coffee and a rose shaped gelato... awww. sooo cute.

flight back to london was good. i flew by BA. and was a little delayed because Bush was around. chey. oh well. got home at a decent hour and literally cried on my way home. i am an emotional basketcase. was reading a book given to me by Sjoukje. a real life story about a couple and their time with cancer. hiaks. tearing as i was reading the last bit. hard not to cry.. this story is so real... sigh.

anyway, budapest is really quite nice. i would visit it again.. i have been a few european cities now and i have to say the architecture in budapest is really very different in a very nice way. so much details. very grand actually. and so much history.... and i have to thank mate for filling me in.
